The neighbor who swore his method would fix my dog's pulling
Old Mr. Chen from three doors down told me to just yank the leash hard whenever my Golden Retriever pulls. Said he trained 5 dogs that way. First walk with his method my dog pulled so hard I faceplanted into a pile of wet leaves on Maple Street. Has anyone else had a supposedly simple training tip backfire this bad?
Man I bet old Mr. Chen has never actually walked a strong dog in his life, those old school yank methods just teach them to pull harder against the pressure.
Throw in a reactive 120 pound shepherd mix and watch those yank methods turn into a full body workout real quick. Maybe Mr. Chen should trade his choke chain for a front clip harness and see if he feels different, @the_william. Idk, I just think pulling a dog by the neck isn't "training" so much as a test of who can hold their breath longer.
