TIL my dog walks about 5 miles more than I do on every single walk!

I was reading that article from the AKC website while waiting for my shift to start last night. Turns out for every mile I walk, my golden retriever is running back and forth sniffing stuff and zigzagging, so she covers almost 3 miles. Makes sense why she's always passed out on the couch before I even get my shoes off! Has anyone else looked up how much extra ground their dog actually covers?

Same here! My husky puts in triple the mileage every time.

And has anyone actually checked their GPS tracking to see the real mileage? My husky doubles my stats too but I'm pretty sure she's jogging in circles around me while I'm stuck walking in a straight line. The watch is basically counting her extra loops as bonus miles. Makes you wonder if our step counts are really our own or just our dogs' side hustle.
