Tried a harness instead of a collar for my golden retriever and wow what a game changer
I mean maybe it's just me but my dog pulled like crazy on a collar and now with a harness she actually walks beside me. Anyone else find harnesses that much easier for bigger dogs?

Read somewhere that harnesses actually work better for dogs with deeper chests like goldens because they don't put pressure on their trachea. My neighbor's lab had a collapsed trachea thing from pulling on a collar, scary stuff. Got my golden a front clip harness after that and the difference was night and day, she stopped pulling almost right away. Just gotta make sure it fits right, had to adjust mine a few times before it stopped rubbing under her arms.

Wow, a collapsed trachea from a collar? That's terrifying, I had no idea it could get that bad. @susan_wright34, you're making me really glad I switched my golden to a harness a few months ago. I didn't even think about that kind of pressure when she pulls.

Just a heads up, collapsed tracheas are actually more common in small breeds, not so much big dogs like goldens.
