Tried a retractable leash for 2 weeks then switched back to my old 6-foot one

I thought the retractable would give my dog more freedom on our walks in the park. But after nearly tripping three times and her wrapping the cord around a stop sign, I dropped $25 on a standard nylon leash. Has anyone else found retractables more trouble than they're worth?

Nearly got clotheslined by mine on a lamppost day one.

lol the lamppost almost won that round. i tripped over mine in a parking lot on the first day, felt like a complete clown.
