My 5am wake up streak died on day 23 when my alarm clock fell behind the nightstand
I was 23 days into waking up at 5am to walk before work, and then last Tuesday my phone slipped behind the nightstand overnight and I slept until 7:40. The charger cord got yanked loose too, so it was dead when I finally found it, and I just sat on the floor laughing at myself. I tried setting a backup alarm on my old watch but the battery in that thing has been dead since March. Now I set two alarms on two different devices and put one across the room, which feels dumb but works. How do you all keep a streak going when one small thing knocks you off track?
What made you pick 5am in the first place, was it the only time that worked or was there something else going on that made earlier feel better than later? I ask because day 23 is right around when the excitement wears off and it stops being a fun experiment and turns into just a thing you have to do every single day. If the reason behind it was strong enough, one dead phone shouldn't have been able to kill the whole thing, it would've just been a bad morning and you'd be back at it the next day. So was it really the alarm that knocked you off, or were you already looking for a reason to stop?
