My alarm clock habit fell apart in Tucson and now I wake up at 5:40 without meaning to
For about 8 months I was getting up at 5:15 every morning with this dumb little routine. Alarm on the far side of the room, glass of water waiting, shoes by the door. It worked great until I went to Tucson for my sister's wedding last month. I forgot my charger, so my phone died the first night and I slept through the alarm and missed the shuttle to the rehearsal dinner. My sister said "you of all people" and laughed but it stung a bit. After that I just stopped setting it, partly out of spite and partly because the whole thing felt like a house of cards. Now I wake up around 5:40 on my own, which is close enough, but the water glass is gone and I wander the kitchen for 10 minutes like a zombie. It is weird how a habit can feel rock solid for months and then one dead phone in a hotel in Arizona knocks the legs out from under it. Has anyone else had a habit die from one bad travel week, or do you rebuild it right away?

Used to think habits were about willpower, but one dead phone in a hotel definitely proved me wrong on that. Kinda wild how a solid 8 month run can just fall apart from one crappy travel week. Rebuilding it right away never works for me either, it always takes a few days of feeling like a zombie first.
