My dentist told me 2 minutes of brushing is a scam and now I floss while the coffee brews
So I was sitting in the chair at my dentist's office here in Boise last month and she drops this on me: the average person brushes for 45 seconds, not the 2 minutes we all pretend we do. She said she can tell who brushes in circles while scrolling their phone because the back molars are always fuzzy. That hit me hard because I had been doing the whole zombie brush thing every morning for years and wondering why I kept getting that tartar buildup on the lower front teeth. She told me to try brushing for one full song instead of watching the clock, and to keep floss picks in the car cupholder so I actually use them on the drive to work. I started doing the floss thing while my coffee brews, just those 4 minutes every morning, and my last cleaning took 15 minutes instead of 40. The weird part is I don't even think about it anymore, it's just part of the coffee routine now. Has anyone else had a dentist give them one weird tip that actually stuck?
