The 5am stretch habit I stole from my neighbor's mom in Detroit

Last month I watched her do this 4 minute routine before her mail route and now I do it every morning before my shift at the warehouse. My lower back pain from standing 8 hours is basically gone, but I'm wondering if anyone else has a weird borrowed habit that just clicked. What's the story behind the small thing you do daily that came from someone unexpected?

Grabbed a similar trick from an old guy at my gym who stretched his hips before every lift. My sciatic pain was constant for years and now it's mostly gone after doing his 3 minute routine. Sometimes the best fixes come from just watching someone who's been doing it longer than you.

Tried a similar thing with my lower back after a guy at the loading dock swore by it. Spent 15 years hunched over a wheelbarrow, so my spine basically thinks it's still 1998. First week of doing his stretch routine, I twisted wrong sneezing and threw my back out for three days. Old guy just laughed and said, "Told you, takes a month." He wasn't wrong, but man did I feel dumb.
