Unpopular opinion: I quit my 5 minute morning journal and just sat with my coffee instead
For about 6 months I was writing 3 pages every morning before work. Then one Tuesday in August I slept through my alarm and didn't have time, so I just sat on my porch with my coffee for 10 minutes doing nothing. That turned out to be the most clear headed I'd felt all month. Now I do that instead, and weirdly I remember more of my day and feel less rushed. Has anyone else dropped a habit that was supposed to help and found the lazy version worked better?
Who knew doing nothing could actually be the thing that works? I always rolled my eyes at the idea of just sitting there, but your story makes me want to try it. Sometimes the brain needs quiet more than it needs another task on the list.
