Got told my crochet stitches were too tight - what a game changer

I was at a craft fair in Austin last Saturday and this older lady named Barbara picked up one of my scarves and said it felt like armor. She showed me how loosening my tension by half a beat keeps the fabric soft and drapes better. Has anyone else had a simple fix like that totally shift how you approach your hobby?

Jumped right into loosening my tension after a knitter friend told me my stitches were so tight she could bounce a quarter off them. Changed everything for me too, my projects started flowing better and my hands stopped hurting after an hour. Now I catch myself relaxing my grip without even thinking about it, like my muscles finally learned to breathe. Crazy how something that small can make the whole craft feel different, right?

Bounce a QUARTER off them? Okay that's actually hilarious. I showed my sister my old scarf and she said it could double as a cutting board. Maybe we all needed someone to call us out like that.
