Hit 500 sketchbook pages and everyone thinks I'm nuts for not counting hours

I logged my 500th sketchbook page yesterday, but honestly the number that surprised me was 43, that's how many pages I ripped out and redrew in the same month. People keep asking how many hours I put in, but page count matters more to me because it shows actual output, not just sitting there. Anyone else track finished pieces instead of time spent?

That 43 ripped out pages stat is wild though, like that's almost 9% of your total output just gone. Do you think you'd still be hitting that same number if you counted hours instead, or would you be more likely to crank out stuff you knew you'd trash just to pad the time? I feel like page count forces you to actually finish things, but hours could trick you into thinking you're productive when you're really just doodling or staring at the paper. It's honestly a way better metric for people who struggle with perfectionism, cause you can't hide behind "I was working on it" when the page is either done or it's not. But I gotta ask, are you counting the ripped out ones as part of that 500, or are those just the failures in the trash pile?
