My crochet tension was off for 2 years, a cat broke the code

I've been crocheting granny squares since 2021 and my edges always curled like potato chips. I figured it was just my style until my cat knocked my hook off the couch and I grabbed a bigger one by accident. The next square laid perfectly flat, so I checked the label and sure enough I'd been using a 4mm hook for worsted weight yarn this whole time. The blanket I almost finished is a wavy mess but at least I know now. Anyone else ever miss something that dumb for that long?
