My cross stitch finally clicked after I stopped using a hoop
Been fighting with fabric tension for months. Every project came out wonky. Last week I tried stitching without the hoop, just holding the cloth in my hand. Total game changer. The aida stays flat and my stitches are way more even now. Anyone else stitch frameless or is that just weird?

Have you tried a scroll frame instead, since it keeps even tension without getting in your way?
