My neighbor Sal saw my half done birdhouse on the porch and asked why I was sanding it twice
I've been building a little cedar birdhouse for the chickadees that hang around my yard, and I was on my third round of sanding when Sal from two doors down walked over. He said he's built maybe 40 of them over 20 years and never sands past 150 grit because the birds don't care and the rough face actually helps them grip the opening. So I stopped at 150 and finished the whole thing in one evening instead of dragging it out all week. Now I'm wondering what else I'm overdoing, anyone got a hobby step they quit doing once someone called them out on it?
