Switched from painting tiny 15mm minis to 28mm and my eyes stopped hurting
After 8 months of squinting at 15mm Napoleonics I tried a box of 28mm British infantry and finished 6 figures in one evening because I could actually see the straps and faces, so if you're new to mini painting do yourself a favor and start bigger, what scale did you all learn on?
Oh man, that 15mm stuff is wild, you basically need a magnifying glass just to find the face on those guys. Taking your point even further, the real trick is that bigger minis let you actually learn what a brush can do, like how thin your paint needs to be and where a wash should sit, and you can't pick that up when every detail is the size of a pin head. So yeah, starting at 28mm or even 32mm is not cheating, it is just how you build the skills before you torture yourself with the tiny stuff.
