Switched my embroidery thread brand after 3 years of loyalty
I used the same DMC threads since I started stitching in my kitchen back in 2021. Last week at the craft store in Salem, I grabbed a random off-brand skein on a whim because it was 75 cents. Turns out the cheaper thread actually frays less and the colors are more vibrant. Has anyone else had luck swapping brands after sticking with one for years?

i heard from someone on a stitching discord that the dye lots can be way different with off-brand stuff but honestly, i've had the same luck with a cheaper brand i found at a thrift store. the strands are thicker and don't tangle as bad. dmc has been slipping lately, i notice their thread gets fuzzy after one pull through the fabric. might just be my luck though.
