That $60 set of Japanese watercolor brushes I bought on a whim totally flopped for me
Last month I decided to treat myself to a nice brush set for my daily practice. Three weeks in and half of them are already shedding bristles into my paint. Cost me about $60 and now I'm back to using the cheap synthetic ones from the craft store. Has anyone else had luck with a specific brand that actually holds up to daily use?

What brand were those cheap synthetics you went back to?

Save yourself the headache and stick with the cheap craft store synthetics for daily use. I learned that lesson the hard way too after a $40 brush started falling apart on me within two weeks. Sometimes the expensive stuff just isn't built for regular wear and tear.

Ngl I used to be all about dropping cash on the "good stuff" for my hobby painting. Figured expensive meant it would last longer. But after reading your story it totally clicked for me. Those cheap synthetics hold up way better when you're just messing around every day and you don't stress about wrecking a brush that cost more than a tank of gas.
