That painting buddy's shortcut advice cost me 6 hours of cleanup
My friend Dave who does murals told me to skip priming and just use two thick coats of acrylic. I tried it on a small canvas last Wednesday and the paint peeled right off by Friday. He said it works because his paint is different, but mine clearly wasn't. Has anyone else had a fellow hobbyist give them advice that only works with their specific setup?

My uncle Frank pulled the same kind of thing with his lawn mower. Told me to skip changing the oil and just add more when it gets low. Worked fine for his old beat up mower, but my newer one seized up within a month. This really is a bigger pattern I see everywhere. People get so used to their own equipment and habits that they forget what works for them might totally wreck someone else's setup. The funny thing is, they never mean any harm, they just honestly think their way is the universal way. Cost me 200 bucks for a new mower, and I bet your cleanup cost about the same in paint and patience.
