Unpopular opinion: tracing paper beats my light box for inking
I've been inking a comic page for a local zine in Austin and ran out of tracing paper, so I switched to my light box for two panels. The light box made my lines wobbly because I was fighting the glare, while the tracing paper let me lay down clean, dark strokes with my Micron 03. I went back to paper for the rest of the page and finished in 40 minutes instead of 90. Does anyone else find that simple tools work better than the fancy ones?
Read a post on a comic forum from a guy in Portland who said the same thing. He timed it and swore tracing paper was 2x faster for him. Glare is the real killer on a light box, no clue how people deal with it.
