Is dad joke cringe actually the funniest after 30, or am I turning into my father?

So last week I caught myself laughing way too hard at a pun about a broken pencil (pointless, obviously). I used to roll my eyes at that stuff. My buddy still thinks groan-worthy jokes are torture. But the other day my nephew told one about a clock and I snorted coffee out my nose. Two sides: either we just get weaker with age or there's real science behind the cringe being the hook. What flipped you, if anything? Or are you still team eye-roll?
