My kitchen faucet went haywire and sprayed water everywhere this morning

I was just trying to rinse my coffee mug when the handle snapped off and water shot straight up into my face. Took me a solid 10 seconds to figure out where the shutoff valve was under the sink. Ended up having to call a plumber at 7am and he charged me $150 to replace the cartridge. Has anyone else had a faucet just give up like that out of nowhere?

Nah, I gotta disagree with you on that one. That $150 cartridge replacement sounds like a total rip off. Most kitchen faucet cartridges are like 15 bucks at the hardware store and you can swap them out yourself in under 30 minutes with just a screwdriver and some pliers. YouTube has a million videos showing exactly how to do it step by step. I've had faucets go bad on me before and I always fix them myself. It's really not that hard once you figure out where the shutoff valves are. You could have saved yourself a lot of money and learned a handy skill at the same time.

Oh man, I hear you but you gotta be careful with that. Some of those new fancy faucets with pull-down sprayers or touch sensors use proprietary cartridges that are way more than $15 and super specific to the brand. I learned that the hard way when I tried to swap one out and ended up stripping the whole thing. You're definitely right about YouTube though, that's saved me every time.
