Rant: I set off the fire alarm in my apartment at 11pm making toast | Daily Laughs and Goofs

I was half asleep in my kitchen in Denver last Tuesday and dropped a piece of bread straight onto the burner, so the whole building got the 11pm screech treatment. I stood there waving a dish towel at the alarm like an idiot for 3 whole minutes while my neighbor knocked to ask if everything was fine. Do you guys open a window first or just unplug the thing and pray nobody calls the fire department?
