The self-checkout machine at Kroger finally broke me today

I was buying like 12 items at the Kroger on Main Street. Milk, eggs, bread, the usual stuff. The machine kept saying 'unexpected item in bagging area' over and over. I had to call the cashier over three times. She just sighed and waved her little keycard. By the end I was ready to just leave everything there. It hit me that I waste more time fighting these machines than just standing in a regular line. I used to think self-checkout was faster. Now I'm convinced it's a scam to make us do free labor. Anyone else jump ship back to human cashiers?

Same thing happened to me with the ice cream scanner at Walmart.

I read something about those scanners having trouble with frozen items and barcode glare.
