Warning: the guy at my laundromat judges books by how worn the spine is and now I can't unsee it
I was folding towels last Tuesday at the Spin City on 5th and this older guy next to me pointed at my paperback and asked if I'd read it twice. I said once, and he goes "nope, spine's creased in three spots, that book got loved hard." Turns out he's been guessing how many times people reread a book just from the spine wear for 20 years and he's scary accurate. Now I keep looking at spines on my shelf wondering what the creases say about me. Has anyone else met someone with a weird skill like this?
