Went to my local DMV and saw something I never expected

I had to renew my license at the DMV on Grand Avenue yesterday... and I swear the guy at the counter was whistling some old 80s tune while he typed. Took about 12 minutes start to finish, no line, no grumpy faces. Has anyone else had a weirdly smooth DMV trip lately or was mine a total fluke?

Everyone keeps talking about fast DMV trips but mine took two hours last week.

The DMV on Mission Street in SF is six hours on a bad day, so two hours is basically a win. Best trick I've found is to go right at 3:30 PM on a Tuesday. That's when the lunch rush dies down and the afternoon people haven't clocked in yet. Also, check if your local office takes walk-ins for specific services. Some of them only do appointments for drivers licenses but they'll let you walk in for registration and ID cards. Saves you from sitting through the whole number system mess.
