Just realized I was storing my spare blankets wrong for 2 years
I keep a stack of spare blankets in the closet for swaps, and last week a guy came by for one and pointed out they all smelled like cedar and dust. Turns out I had been shoving them straight off the line into a plastic bin at my place in Tulsa, trapping the damp in with them the whole time. I pulled 6 blankets out, aired them on the fence for an afternoon, and two of them were still musty enough that I wouldn't hand them off. Now I fold them loose in a cotton bag with a dryer sheet and they've been fine for a week. What's your go-to way to keep stored linens from going sour before a swap?
You said two of the six were still musty after airing, so what did you end up doing with those? I ask because a dryer sheet mostly covers the smell instead of fixing it, and I've had that backfire on me in a closed bag. How long were they sitting in that plastic bin before the guy came by?
