My neighbor said my free pile was 'basically a dumpster' and now I can't stop thinking about it
My neighbor Denise stopped at my curb last Saturday while I was setting out a box of old paperback thrillers and a working coffee maker, and she said people just see a free pile as a place to dump junk, not a place to find stuff. I've been doing curb swaps on my street in Dayton for about two years and I always figured free meant free, no rules, no fuss. But she pointed out that half the stuff on my corner never moves and just sits there getting rained on until I haul it to Goodwill anyway. So now I'm wondering if a swap should mean you actually want the thing gone to a person, not just off your hands. How do you all decide what's worth posting here versus what just goes to the trash?
