The "like new" comment on my old blender made me rage today
Some guy at the coffee shop told me my $30 thrifted blender was "like new" and it immediately ticked me off, you know? He saw the scuffs and the faded label but just meant it worked fine, which is not the same thing. I've swapped over 40 items on here and the word "like new" gets tossed around when it really means "barely works but turns on." Anyone else get annoyed by how people describe condition, or am I just too picky about my trade listings?
The "like new" label is basically the used item version of "works great!" on a Facebook Marketplace post for a car that's clearly on fire. Saw a listing last week for a blender with a cracked pitcher and the seller wrote "like new, only used a few times" so I guess they only made smoothies during a minor earthquake. My favorite is when "gently used" means the thing looks like it survived a house move strapped to the roof. Condition words have lost all meaning at this point, we might as well start grading stuff in vibes.
