Traded my espresso machine for a French press, the seller's advice was spot on

Last month I swapped my old Mr. Coffee espresso maker on here for a basic 3-cup French press from a woman in Akron. She told me to grind the beans coarse and wait exactly 4 minutes before pressing, and I thought she was overcomplicating it. First two cups came out bitter and muddy, so I finally tried her method. Now it tastes better than the espresso ever did, and I saved the counter space too. Anyone else get tips from a trade partner that actually worked out better than expected?

Ha, funny you mention that! My buddy Dave did a trade on here for an old hand-crank drill, guy threw in a box of random bits. Turns out one was a vintage countersink he'd been hunting for months. Dave was all set to re-drill his kitchen cabinets and that thing cut through like butter. Never woulda figured it out without the trade.
