Found a cracked cylinder head on a freightliner at 3am last Friday
I was doing a routine oil change on a 2018 Cascadia at a truck stop in Oklahoma City when I spotted a hairline crack near the #6 injector cup. Pulled the head off around 2am and spent the next few hours cleaning up the surface. Turned out the previous guy overtightened the hold down bolts by a good 20 ft-lbs. I managed to get a reman head delivered by 7am from a shop 30 miles out. Got the truck back together by noon and the driver made his delivery. Anybody else run into cracks from overtorquing those injector hold downs?

Wait, you got a reman head delivered at 7am on a Friday from a shop 30 miles out? That's wild. Around here nobody's even answering their phone that early, let alone pulling inventory and running a delivery. I've been stuck waiting until Monday more times than I can count for parts on those Cascadia motors. You must have some good connections or got real lucky with whoever was on shift that morning.

Yeah man I used to think early parts runs were impossible but that morning totally changed my mind.

Oh man that's exactly what I'm talking about! Yeah the shop owner I've been using for parts for like 8 years knows me pretty well. I called him at like 4am and he said he had a reman head sitting on his shelf from a job that fell through. He got his nephew to run it out to me for like 50 bucks cash. Most guys wouldn't do that but that's what happens when you've been dealing with the same family owned shop forever. I swear half the battle on these Cascadia jobs is just finding a parts guy who actually answers the damn phone.
