I finally realized I was loosening harmonic balancer bolts wrong for 4 years
Was doing a pulley swap on a 6.7 Cummins last Tuesday and the bolt wouldn't budge. My buddy walked over and said 'you know you gotta hold the crank from the flywheel side, right?' I'd been using a breaker bar against the block like an idiot. Felt pretty dumb when it popped right off after that. Anyone else have a basic trick they missed for years?

Rite of passage" is right, I used to think hammers were cheating until this.

Nah man you're good, that's a rite of passage. I spent a whole afternoon fighting a stubborn bolt on my Duramax before my neighbor came over and just tapped the wrench handle with a hammer. Felt like a genius after that.

Who hasn't had that moment where the simplest fix makes you feel like an idiot? A little percussive maintenance goes a long way on these trucks. Sometimes the obvious solution is the one you overlook last.
