Just fixed a 6.7 Powerstroke that was down on power for months

The truck came in from a farm in Salinas, it had been running rough since spring planting. We chased our tails for a while, but the real fix was the MAP sensor tube. It was full of soot and oil blow-by, basically choking the computer with bad data. Cleaned that little tube out, cleared the codes, and it ran like a top. Anyone else seen a simple clog cause that much of a headache on the newer engines?

Choking the computer with bad data" is a bit much lol. On those trucks, a dirty MAP tube usually just throws a code and makes it run a little rough. Months of down on power sounds like there was something else going on too.

That's a good point about it being more than one thing. It reminds me of how people talk about fixing stuff in general. They find one obvious problem, fix it, and then get mad when the whole thing doesn't work perfectly. Like cleaning one spark plug and wondering why the lawnmower still sputters. Most systems fail from a couple small issues adding up, not one big dramatic chokehold.

Honestly, it's always a cascade of little things that finally breaks the system.
