PSA: A $3 tube of dielectric grease beat my 2 hour hunt for a bad ground
Had a 2012 Freightliner come in last Tuesday with lights flickering every time the driver hit a bump, and I spent two hours chasing grounds with a meter before finding anything. What finally worked was pulling every ground stud I could reach, wire brushing them clean, and putting a thin coat of dielectric grease on each one before torquing them back down. The flicker went away completely and the truck has been back twice since for other stuff with no light issues. Turns out the old grease had dried out and crusted up, so the connections looked fine but weren't making solid contact. How do you all handle grounds on high mile trucks, do you grease them or just clean and go dry?
