Question about guys who tighten drain plugs with a 3 foot cheater bar
Had a 2018 Freightliner in the shop on Tuesday and the oil pan plug on that Detroit came off with a breaker bar plus a pipe, which tells me the last guy never saw a torque spec in his life. The book calls for 45 ft lbs on that plug, and crushing the washer like that is how you end up helicoiling a pan on a truck that barely has 200k. I get wanting to make sure it never leaks, but you are not sealing the Hoover Dam here. Anybody got a good way to gently bring this up with the next guy who does it?
