Took me 15 years to realize I'd been torquing head bolts wrong the whole time
I always did the torque sequence by feel until a Cummins blew on me last year. When I finally looked at the manual it said three passes instead of two. Anybody else learn a basic habit that was dead wrong for years?

My first big diesel job I torqued the mains all in one pass, just going around in circles like an idiot. 300 miles later the bottom end started knocking and I had to pull the whole thing apart again. At least I learned that lesson before I built my own motor.

Yeah nothing like learning the hard way with a 300 mile do-over.

At least you only made it 300 miles, I blew mine up in the parking lot.
