Why does nobody talk about the brake lube trick I picked up at a truck pull in Gillette
Was at a truck pull in Gillette last summer and got to jawing with an old guy running a swapped 12 valve. He had his slide pins on the trailer brakes out on a rag and he was coating them with a thin film of marine grease cut with a little anti seize, said plain brake grease cakes up bad in the dust out there. I thought it was kinda odd but tried it on a customer's F350 a month later and the calipers slid smooth as glass when I pulled it apart at 20k miles. Normally with the standard purple stuff I'm scraping crust off the pins by then. The mix stays put but doesn't get tacky and gum up, which is what kills me on the fleet trucks out here. Only thing is you gotta use a light hand or it flings. What do you all run on slide pins in dusty country, or am I late to this one?
