A collector's quiet panic over my lighting setup stuck with me
At a small gallery showing in Austin last month, someone spent a full ten minutes staring at my digital landscape piece before asking if I had calibrated my monitor for print, and she looked genuinely worried when I said I hadn't. She then pulled out her phone to show me her own redone version and explained how her colors shifted completely once she switched to a proper profile. Has anyone else had a stranger give them tech advice that actually changed how they present their work, or was that just a one time thing for me?

Funny thing, I used to blow off monitor calibration as overkill until a similar random person at a show caught my print looking way too green. Took her advice that night, and yeah, my whole gallery setup changed overnight.

My buddy @noahmartin had the same thing happen at a local craft fair. He was selling these landscape shots that he thought looked super moody and nice, but a customer asked if the trees were supposed to be that purple. Turns out his screen was boosting the blues like crazy, and every print looked off in a way he never caught at home. He spent the next weekend messing with calibration settings and re-printed basically his whole booth, and honestly the difference was night and day.
