Got my first real art commission this week after posting my work online for a year

A person saw my fantasy landscape piece on a different site and emailed me asking for a custom version for their book cover. They offered $300, which is the most I've ever been paid for a drawing. I spent three days working on it, tweaking the colors and adding small details they asked for. When I sent the final file, they replied within an hour saying they loved it and might order more. It just feels good to have someone value my work enough to pay for it, you know? Has anyone else gotten their first paid job after sharing art for a long time?

Ever think about what you'll do if they ask for a rush job next time? That's when the real price talks start.

My friend got burned by not having one.

Read a blog that said to set rush fees early, like @nora110 hinted.
