Had to choose between drawing on my tablet or paper at a live event

I was doing a digital art demo at a convention in Portland and my tablet battery died 20 minutes in. I grabbed a sketchpad from my bag and finished the piece with markers instead, and three people actually said they liked the paper version better! Anyone else ever switch mediums mid-showcase and get surprised by the result?

Stick with the happy accident. Paper has that raw, imperfect feel that digital sometimes lacks. Bet the crowd connected more because they could see your process in real time.

Heard somewhere that viewers' brains actually engage more with handmade stuff because they can trace the maker's decisions. That's probably why live sketching feels so electric, every smudge or wobble tells a story. Did you notice people reacting more to the rougher marks or the finished details?

raw, imperfect feel" is exactly it... paper wins every time for that.
