Just realized how much a simple layer mask shortcut speeds up my workflow
I used to spend 45 minutes manually erasing backgrounds on each character portrait for my webcomic until a friend showed me the cmd+shift+I invert trick in Clip Studio, and now I'm kicking myself for not learning it 3 years ago. Has anyone else found a basic shortcut that totally changed how they do digital art?

Hart.sage, you bring up a good point about how shortcuts used to seem lazy. I read an article once about old school animators who did everything by hand, and they talked about how learning the shortcut of using a light box to trace rough sketches saved them hours. It made me realize that these tricks are not about being lazy at all. They are about working smarter so you can focus on the actual creative stuff instead of the boring repetitive parts. The undo shortcut is a lifesaver, but learning things like layer masks and clipping masks really does speed things up a lot. It is just a matter of unlearning old habits and forcing yourself to use the new way for a week.

Honestly I used to think shortcuts were just for lazy people but now I'm the one hitting ctrl+z like 50 times a day and it saves me hours.

Ctrl+Z is basically a time machine for your mistakes, honestly one of the best inventions ever. It's wild how something so simple can save you from redoing entire documents or projects if you mess up. That little shortcut has saved my sanity more times than I can count.
