My sister asked why my digital paintings all look the same, and I have not opened my tablet since Tuesday
We were sitting in her kitchen in Dayton last week and she pulled up my Instagram on her iPad, scrolled through about 8 pieces, and said every face had the exact same light coming from the upper left. I got defensive at first, but she was right, I have been slapping the same soft brush highlight on every portrait for close to 2 years without noticing. Now I keep staring at my WIP and I cannot decide if I should scrap it or just flip the light source and see what happens. Has anyone else had a non artist family member point out a crutch in your work that you could not unsee?
Been there. My mom once looked at a batch of mine and asked why every background was a blurry city street. Took me a week to see it.
Flipping the light source is a good move. Don't scrap the WIP, just mess with it and see what comes out.
