My tablet pen died right before a big client review
I was in a video call showing my latest character design when my Huion pen just stopped working... no warning. The client was watching live while I clicked buttons like a fool. I grabbed my backup mouse and tried to draw with that, which made the lines look like a toddler did them. Has anyone else had a tool fail at the worst time and what did you do?

Actually, I keep a cheap ballpoint pen and paper on my desk now for total emergencies, just to sketch the idea while I talk. It's not a perfect fix but it keeps the ideas flowing when tech fails.

That "clicking buttons like a fool" feeling is the worst. I keep a cheap ballpoint pen and paper on my desk now for total emergencies, just to sketch the idea while I talk.

Honestly, the pen and paper trick is smart because it forces a different part of your brain to work. I've noticed that when I'm stuck clicking around, it's usually because I'm trying to edit the idea at the same time I'm making it. A cheap pen stops that, since you can't erase, you just have to let the messy sketch happen. It gets the basic shape out before the critical part of your mind can shut it down. That shift from making it perfect to just making it exist is the real emergency fix.
