One harsh critique about my color grading changed my whole workflow
A photographer in Portland looked at my latest series and said my shadows looked like mud. I was annoyed for 3 days, but then I actually opened the files and saw it. I was pushing the blacks way too hard to hide noise. I started working with a calibrated monitor and testing my images on 3 different screens before posting. That one comment saved me months of bad habits. Has anyone else gotten feedback that made them rethink a basic step like that?

Went back to basics after a similar comment about my greens looking fake. Turned out I was cranking saturation without checking my monitor's color profile. Now I do a flat pass first, then grade, then check on my phone and laptop before I even think about posting. That one remark about my skin tones being too orange made me buy a calibration tool within the week. Funny how a stranger's blunt words can do more than years of tutorials.
