The gallery curator who told me to use fewer layers was right
About six weeks ago a local gallery owner in Austin looked at my digital piece and said my work looked too "busy" because I was stacking 15+ layers on everything. I ignored it at first, figured she just liked flat minimalism. Then I did one piece with only 5 layers and spent more time on lighting and texture instead. It got way more attention at the showcase last weekend, and now I'm second guessing every file I start. Has anyone else had to cut their layer count cold turkey to improve their work?

Asked my friend who does digital art about this, he said cutting layers felt like losing a limb until his next piece won a contest.
