Wasted $120 on a drawing tablet that barely worked out of the box
Bought a cheap no-name drawing tablet off Amazon for digital art last month. Hooked it up and the pen pressure was all over the place, plus the driver software kept crashing. Tried every fix I could find online for 2 hours, still couldn't get a steady line. Ended up sending it back and just paying the extra for a used Wacom. Anyone else get burned by one of those budget tablets?

Ah man, that "pen pressure all over the place" thing is the worst. I tried a cheap Huion a couple years back and had the exact same problem where the line would just jump around no matter how steady I tried to keep my hand. It's so frustrating spending an evening trying to get it to work instead of actually drawing anything.

Haha yeah nothing says "creative inspiration" like spending your whole evening wrestling with a driver update instead of actually drawing anything. I swear these cheap tablets detect frustrated breathing and use that to make the lines even worse. At least returning it only cost you time and shipping, some people get stuck with these things and just give up on digital art entirely. The Wacom used market is the real hidden gem - those things are built like tanks and last forever even when they've been dropped a few times.

The whole "cheap tech costs you more in time than money" thing applies to so much more than just drawing tablets lol. Tried to save $40 on a blender once and spent three hours figuring out why it kept shutting off, when the more expensive model would have just worked from the start. @emma_dixon70 is right about Huion too, I borrowed a friend's once and the pen pressure was so inconsistent it made my stick figure look like it was drawn during an earthquake. It's like these companies bank on people getting too tired to return stuff and just accepting that their new gadget runs like garbage. At least with used Wacoms you know exactly what you're getting, no surprises.
