A client said our open rate jumped just from cleaning the subject line, and I didn't believe her at first
She showed me her last 3 sends and the only thing she changed was cutting 4 words and dropping the emoji, and opens went from 18% to 27%. I tried the same thing on one of my campaigns in Dallas and got a 6 point bump, which honestly feels too easy. Anyone else seen plain subject lines beat the clever ones like this?
Tested dropping the emoji on a Nashville send last week and got a similar bump, so it's not just you. Makes you wonder if we've all been writing subject lines for our own egos instead of for real people scanning their inbox.
