Client told me my email headlines were 'giving college freshman'...
They said my subject lines were too wordy and 'try hard.' I cut them from 12 words to 6 and open rates jumped 22% in 2 weeks. Anyone else get brutal but useful feedback like that?

Totally feel you on this one, getting hit with that kind of feedback stings but it's so valuable. It's crazy how cutting all the fluff can make such a big difference in what people actually click on. Glad you saw a solid jump from it though, that's a nice win.

Gotta disagree with you here. Cutting words just for the sake of being short isn't always the answer. I've seen people chop their subject lines down so much they sound robotic and lose all personality. Sometimes a little more detail helps people know exactly what they're clicking on, especially if you're selling something technical or complicated. The 22% jump is real good, no doubt, but it could also be that your old headlines were just bad, not that short is always better. There's a middle ground between "try hard college freshman" and sounding like a bot. You gotta match your audience, not just a formula.
