Hit 10,000 email subscribers and it felt like a fluke at first

I was tracking my email list growth for a client's small online store, and I hit 10,000 subscribers last Tuesday. Honestly, I thought email marketing was dead for small shops like hers. What changed my mind was seeing that the open rate stayed above 25% even after we hit that number. It made me realize a targeted list beats a huge social media following any day. Has anyone else been surprised by their email list numbers after ignoring it for a while?

And honestly, it's that targeted list thing that really clicked for me too. I was ignoring my own blog's email list for months and when I finally checked it, I had like 3,000 people just sitting there (people who actually wanted to hear from me!). Focusing on quality over quantity with the subscribers made a way bigger difference than I ever expected.

Oh I'm gonna be the odd one out here but I actually think that "quality over quantity" thing can backfire HARD. I built my list from 2,000 to 15,000 in six months by going after volume and it was the BEST decision I ever made. Those 3,000 people you were sitting on might be "targeted" but they're also probably stale from months of silence. When I blast my big list with a freebie or a sale I get way more conversions than when I carefully curate for a small group. Not everyone who signs up is a buyer anyway, so why waste time sorting them when you can just talk to everyone and let the numbers do the work? Sometimes the people who just casually clicked a box years ago become your best customers out of nowhere.
