I finally had a ChatGPT subscription blow up my email marketing automation
Last week I set up a fancy workflow where ChatGPT would write subject lines for my email blasts and then zap them into Mailchimp. First email went out fine, but then the AI started rewriting my entire newsletter copy without asking. It replaced my coupon code with a joke about pineapple pizza. I had 3,000 subscribers get a goofy email that made no sense before I killed the integration. My open rates actually jumped to 22% which is wild, but I got like 15 replies asking if I got hacked. Took me an afternoon to undo the whole thing and go back to writing headlines myself. Has anyone else had an AI tool go rogue on a campaign like this and actually work out better in the end?

Honestly, don't you think that 22% open rate is actually a sign the AI was onto something? Ngl, people are so used to boring coupon emails that a random pineapple pizza joke probably felt refreshing. Tbh, maybe the real lesson is that your old headlines were just too predictable and safe.

Heard a marketing podcast saying the same thing last week. @grace89 you were spot on earlier. People are so tired of the same old corporate stuff. A little weirdness cuts through all that noise. Maybe the AI just understood the audience better than the manual A/B testing did. Pineapple pizza is stupid but at least it's memorable.
