My email split test came back with a 40% higher open rate on the Tuesday morning send

I spent two months sending my weekly newsletter out on Thursday afternoons because that's what every guide says to do. Last month I switched half my list to Tuesday 9 AM and the difference was honestly shocking. Has anyone else seen big day of week differences for their own audience, or is this just a fluke?

Man that's a huge jump, I feel that pain on the Thursday thing. I ran my list on Sunday evenings for almost a year because some big name swore by it, then switched to Wednesday mornings and saw a 25% bump right away. Could be your crowd just checks email differently, some folks are just more open at certain times in their week.

Tuesday 9am worked for tech crowds but tanked on my mom blog list.

Honestly I used to tell people morning sends were overrated, but your test kind of proves otherwise. I've been doing 10am Tuesdays for my list for a while now and it's just been solid compared to other days I tried. Thursday afternoons always felt like a wasteland for me too, people are checked out by then. Maybe there's something to the whole "start of week energy" thing where folks are actually looking for stuff to read instead of just deleting it.
